Flames of Hull launches new range of stylish, modern centrepiece fireplaces
Tuesday, October 13th, 2015

THERE was a time when a fireplace was simply an essential source of heat for a family home, in place simply to keep a room warm when the winter took hold.

Not anymore.

Stunning fireplaces are now increasingly providing spectacular centrepieces for homes looking for that modern, contemporary feel – and it’s not only in the living room that they’ll now be found, as people increasingly turn to modern fires to brighten up and add real character to many rooms in their home.

“There has been a real shift in focus over the past few years, as people are now certainly buying fires with not only their efficiency and heat in mind, but also the visual impact they can have on a room, and the character and atmosphere they bring,” said Andy Blakeston, of specialists Flames of Hull.

“The increase in popularity of solid-fuel and wood-burning stoves in recent years has certainly had a major impact, as people love having a real fire in their homes. It adds a great feeling of character and a real focal point, creating not only a cosy feeling because of the heat they supply, but a natural atmosphere too.”

That desire to create such an atmosphere and stunning visual effect in homes has led to the introduction of many stunning, new large fires onto the market, with manufacturers of both gas and electric fires stepping up their game to launch a range of new stylish products.

And with efficiency imperative in this day and age, whether it be a gas, electric or solid fuel product, the Flames team has everything covered for customers, even catering for those homes without a chimney by installing flue systems and completing and needed building alterations.

“Many people come to us and worry that they don’t have a chimney where they would like a stove, but that is often not a problem, as we can build a bespoke flue system and carry out the building alterations, meaning people can have products which they thought would not be possible in their homes,” said Mr Blakeston.

“With the rise in wood-burning stoves increasing sharply over the last decade, gas fire manufacturers have also raised their game with extremely efficient products now available at the flick of a switch.

“There’s also a stunning range of modern electric fires, which allow customers to have the look and appearance of a real fire in their home, but not have the extra heat. This is ideal if they make it a feature in perhaps a large open plan kitchen dining area or small sitting room, for example. There is more control for customers and the options are endless."

Among the stunning new products being offered at Flames of Hull, which has been installing fires in home across East Yorkshire for more than 10 years, is the latest range in the Radiance electric fires. The stylish, sleek looking models, which can be either wall mounted or inserted and are available in a range of sizes, offer a captivating, realistic LED flame which can be used in various looks and colours.

Choose a deep amber glow and it gives the effect of a traditional fire, whilst a blue flame gives a more contemporary look – all controlled by remote to give the customer full control.

“The electric fires are simply stunning now and look extremely effective. They have advanced so much. We are seeing increased demand for the larger, visually stunning impressive fires,” added Mr Blakeston.

With more than a decade of trading, Flames has carved a reputation for quality products and installation. Over the past 12 months, it has successfully expanded and opened a new extensive showroom in Layerthorpe, York, whilst the Hull showroom has been undergoing a major refurbishment, with new displays of the latest range of products added.

Crucially, Flames has its own Gas Safe installation teams, ensuring every job is completed in-house from survey to installation, and not by external fitters, keeping the tightest control over quality and customer satisfaction.

Mr Blakeston added: “We always work hard at Flames to spot the changes in the market and to stay ahead of the trends, and that is why our showrooms are usually the first to offer new innovative fireplaces and stoves, as well as exclusive ‘in-house’ offers and designs.

“We know our customers want fires that look great and make a stunning addition to their home, but also people want to know about energy efficiency and how well a fire will perform in their particular home.

“We ensure we do that for every customer. We inform and educate rather than sell, as the products are so stunning, they sell themselves.”
